After booking a place in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League in midweek, Bayern Munich host Heidenheim on Saturday at the Allianz Arena in the Bundesliga.

The newly promoted side will look to upset the hosts as they take on the Champions for the first time in the Club’s history.

After extending their group stage record in the Champions League to 38 games unbeaten, the Bavarians recorded a 16th knock-stage qualification in their last 20 attempts and will look to build on the momentum against Heidenheim on Saturday afternoon.

After suffering consecutive defeats to Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal, Heidenheim returned to winning ways after edging past third-placed Stuggart in a 2-0 victory at home last weekend.

Tuchel’s men remain unbeaten in the Bundesliga with 26 points after their opening 10 matches. Their best point tally at this stage since the 2014/2015 season under Pep Guardiola.

Thrashing Dortmund 4-0 last weekend was still not enough for the hosts who find themselves two points behind the soaring Bayer Leverkusen.

However, a victory would see Bayern move top of the table temporarily before Leverkusen take on Union Berlin on Sunday.

Bayern’s only previous encounter with the visitors came in the 2018/2019 season in the DFB- Pokal quarter-final in a 5-4 victory with Robert Lewandowski grabbing the winner.

The match kicks off at 2:30 pm.
