Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has described Darwin Nunez as ‘outstanding’ following the club’s win over Brentford over the weekend.
The Reds, after failing to beat Luton Town and Toulouse in the past week, bounced back to winning ways with a 3-0 win at Anfield.
Mohamed Salah scored a brace against the Bees with Diogo Jota also scoring the other while Nunez registered an assist.
The game was the Uruguay international’s sixth Premier League start this season and his performance was enough to convince his manager.
“Outstanding! Outstanding! Everyone can see,” Klopp said when quizzed about the performance of the striker.
“Look at him how he kept the ball for us, who would have thought that last year? That he could do that for us.
“Standout was Darwin because Brentford wanted long balls so he started the pressing. [His] work rate was insane.”
Nunez came under strong criticism following his poor display against Luton last weekend as he missed a clear-cut opportunity to be on the scoresheet.
