Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski says he had no confrontations with teammate Lamine Yamal after constant reports on social media implied he snubbed the youngster during the club’s victory over Alaves on Sunday.
The Barcelona No.9 was on a six-match goalless run prior to the game but netted a brace to keep Barcelona in the top four places in La Liga while also ending his drought.
Footage from the game showed the Blaugrana striker rage at the 16-year -old and ignored a handshake from the youngster after the latter opted to shoot than pass to the Poland international.
Lewandowski responded to the reports on the incident saying: “Ignoring Lamine? It was a total accident, there is nothing to comment on.
“Sometimes I shout during a match, but that’s normal. The entire situation has no second meaning.”
The return to goal scoring ways puts Lewandowski on seven goals, one goal behind in-form Antoine Griezmann and three behind Real Madrid summer signing Jude Bellingham.
“Goals always give you peace of mind and motivation especially since I haven’t had many chances in recent matches,” he added.
“And without them it’s more difficult to change something. I hope that now I will score regularly and have chances.”
