Spain manager Luis de la Fuente says the dressing room did not depict a winning team despite their victory over Georgia.

Spain claimed another victory in the qualifiers for the 2024 European Championships but had to pay a price for it as Gavi suffered a serious injury.

The 19-year-old suffered what looked like an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury after being taken off in the 26th minute of Sunday evening’s game.

De la Fuente came under strong criticism for fielding the Barcelona midfielder when the team had already qualified for the main tournament.

Following the end of the game, the manager came out to say it didn’t look like the team won the game due to the injury to the youngster.

“In the dressing room, it feels like we lost,” he told the media.

“We’re destroyed, Gavi’s injury is serious and it’s hard moment for all of us.”

“It was an accident and a misfortune, but Gavi was perfectly fit to play, like everyone else.”

Gavi could be out for the rest of the season while his participation in the Euro 2024 is also under threat.
