Former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has asked the club to stick with Carlo Ancelotti for the long-term describing the latter as the ‘ideal’ person for the project.
Ancelotti is approaching the end of his contract at the club after returning for a second spell. The Italian manager first handled the club between 2013 and 2015, guiding them to a 10th Champions League title.
There are reports linking Ancelotti’s future away from the Santiago Bernabeu with Brazil in the running for his services.
However, Mourinho believes the Italian should be given the opportunity to continue his role.
“Replacing Ancelotti at Real? I am a Real Madrid fan and I hope Carlo Ancelotti stays there,” he said in a recent interview.
“He is the ideal coach for Real Madrid. Florentino is super smart. He already has a super manager, why think of another?”
Ancelotti’s current contract at Madrid expires at the end of the 2023/24 season.
