Jose Mourinho has asked Carlo Ancelotti to reconsider any decision to leave Real Madrid at the end of the 2023/24 season.
Ancelotti has been heavily linked with the vacant head coach role at Brazil following the sacking of Tite after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Italian manager’s contract with Madrid is set to expire at the end of the current season with reports in Spain indicating a possible extension as the Brazil links also continue.
However, Mourinho, who managed Los Blancos between 2010 and 2013 has asked Ancelotti to continue at the club until he is not wanted anymore.
“I think only a madman would leave Real Madrid when he is still wanted. And that madman was me,” he said in an interview with Italian TV channel TG2.
“The only one who after three years with a President who still wanted me, and Jose Sanchez too, I decided to leave.
“I am certain that at the first sign from Florentino, Carlo will remain, because he is perfect for Real Madrid and Real Madrid are perfect for him.”
Ancelotti is at Madrid for the second spell having been in charge earlier between 2013 and 2015 where he also won the UEFA Champions League.
