‘There are too many games and too many injuries’ – Kounde

Barcelona defender Jules Kounde has become the latest player to add his voice to the growing concerns about the number of games players have to play.

With just four months into the 2023/24 season, so many games have been played by players who also represent their national teams.

The November international break recorded lots of injuries with Gavi, Vinicius Junior, Eduardo Camavinga and a host of others all facing unfortunate incidents.

In a recent interview, Kounde expressed his dissatisfaction with the disturbing development.

“There are too many games. The pace has become more and more intense, too many injuries,” he told Clique TV.

“We’re going in rhythm that’s becoming more and more dangerous. There are more and more serious injuries.

“What bothers me is that when we make this observation, people say that we used to play so much…

“Even if that was true, it doesn’t mean it was good before.”

Kounde will be back in action over the weekend when Barcelona play against Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish La Liga.
