Atletico Madrid in talks to extend Griezmann’s contract

La Liga side Atletico Madrid have begun talks with Antoine Griezmann over the possibility of extending his contract.

The France international still has three years left on his current deal at the club after making a return to the team from Barcelona.

Griezmann has had a good start to the 2023/24 season as Atletico stay within touching distance of the top spot.

The forward has been involved directly in 10 goals in 13 league appearances this campaign, scoring nine and setting up one.

In a recent interview, Atletico’s president, Enrique Cerezo, confirmed talks are currently underway to see the player commit to a long-term deal.

“We are in talks to extend the contract of Antoine Griezmann, we are very confident,” he said.

“Negotiations are well underway and advancing.”

Griezmann will look to be the main man again when Atletico face Barcelona in the league over the weekend.
