I want Mbappe to win the Ballon d’Or at PSG – Ronaldinho

Former Paris Saint-Germain forward Ronaldinho has insisted he wants Kylian Mbappé, 24, to win the Ballon d’Or while he is still a player of Les Parisiens.

In contrast to Ronaldinho, who won the trophy in 2005, Mbappé has yet to earn the renowned award.

Despite breaking his own scoring record last year, France’s captain was beaten to the trophy by Lionel Messi, with Erling Haaland coming in second. Mbappé finished third on the podium.

Ronaldinho wants Mbappé to win the France Football prize whilst he is at PSG, describing him as “a good friend and a great player.”

“A great player like him can have the chance to win the Ballon d’Or for any team, but as I love PSG, I want him to do it with PSG,” the former Barcelona winger told AFP.

Mbappé’s contract with Les Parisiens expires at the end of the season, and the next Ballon d’Or will be awarded in the autumn.

While the former AS Monaco winger could stay at PSG beyond the summer, there have been no indications of contract talks, and speculation over a summer departure is widespread.
