Mauricio Pochettino says Manchester United showed immense desire at home to edge past Chelsea in Wednesday’s Premier League intriguing clash.
A Scott McTominay brace was enough to sink the Blues at Old Trafford, leaving Cole Palmer’s first-half equaliser of little value for the Blues.
Speaking to the Press after the game about United’s dominance over Chelsea, Pochettino said: “Manchester United deserved to win the game. They showed massive energy.”
“Maybe we were affected, because we played Sunday with one less player for 60 minutes with similar players. This type of game is difficult to assess.”
The Red Devils returned to the top six in the league after the clash, three points within reach of the top four.
Meanwhile, Chelsea remained in 10th place on the standings and will take on Everton away from home at Goodison Park come Sunday afternoon.
