Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino says the club has to accept they are not fit enough to be in the top half of the Premier League table at the moment.
According to him, the players will need to step up if the club is to return to its glory days anytime soon.
The Blues suffered yet another defeat over the weekend as they were beat by Everton at Goodison Park.
The result leaves Chelsea in 12th place, 18 points away from the top spot.
“Our reality now is mid-table and if we want to go up we have to push ourselves,” Pochettino said after the latest defeat.
“When the transfer window opens we will see what we can do.
“I’m not saying I’m going to ask for more players or less players but it is to see if perception matches reality.”
In the 16 Premier League games played so far, Chelsea have won just five while they have suffered seven defeats. They have also picked up four stalemates in that period.
Chelsea will face Sheffield United in their next league game on December 16 before the EFL Cup game against Newcastle United.
