Erik ten Hag says Manchester United are not ‘good enough’ to be playing at the highest level after their defeat to Bournemouth.
United suffered an embarrassing thrashing at Old Trafford on Saturday as they lost 3-0 to the Cherries.
The defeat came after the Red Devils had beaten Chelsea in midweek and were expected to continue their fine run of form.
Speaking after the game, the Dutchman was left disappointed with his team’s performance and admitted they hadn’t been good enough.
“As a squad, we are not good enough to be consistent and we have to work as a squad to improve that,” he said.
“In this league, if you are not playing on the highest levels, you get killed.
“I’m annoyed, disappointed, definitely. I expected something different yesterday.”
Despite the loss, United still maintain their sixth position on the league table after 16 games, amassing 27 points.
They are up against Bayern Munich in their final UEFA Champions League group game in midweek before facing Liverpool next weekend.
