Bayern Munich director, Christoph Freund, says the club has already opened talks with defender Alphonso Davies over a new contract.

The left-back’s contract at the Allianz Arena is expected to expire at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Davies has already started to attract interest from other clubs as he is touted as one of the players to dominate in the years ahead.

Real Madrid and Manchester City are among the clubs said to be interested in acquiring the services of the Canadian international.

However, Bayern are keen to tie the player down to a new long-term deal with Freund confirming talks have already taken place.

“Alphonso Davies performances affected by his future rumours? No, I don’t think so,” he said in an interview with Sports 1.

“New deal? We’re in talks, we’ll see what happens in the coming weeks.”

Davies 12 league appearances for the Bavarian side this season, registering three assists while he also five Champions League games to his name this campaign.
