Athletic Bilbao will host Atlètico Madrid at San Mames on Saturday afternoon on matchday 17 of the 2023/2024 La Liga season, in what is expected to be a keenly contested clash.
The hosts lie in fifth place on the league table in La Liga while Diego Simeone’s men sit in third place on the standings ahead of the clash.
Athletic Bilbao approach this game on the back of a 1-1 draw with Granada on Monday, meanwhile, Atlètico Madrid were 2-1 victors over Almeria last weekend.
The advantage is up for grabs on Saturday afternoon as both sides can boast of two victories in their last five matches against each other, drawing one game in the period.
A victory would see Diego Simeone’s men two points behind Real Madrid on the standings and three points clear of Barcelona who lie in fourth place on the league table.
However, Ernesto Valverde’s men will be confident of taking points off Atlètico Madrid as they are unbeaten in their last six matches in all competitions.
The visitors also remain on top form ahead of the clash, winning five of the their last six matches across all competitions and losing only one in the period.
The hosts will have the Williams brothers leading their attack for this big clash, meanwhile, Alvaro Morata is expected to return to the starting XI to partner Antoine Griezmann in the final third.
