Girona will look to reclaim top spot in La Liga when they welcome Alaves to the Montilivi Stadium on Monday night.
The hosts were emphatic 4-2 winners in the Catalan derby last weekend against Barcelona while Alaves go into this fixture after a 1-0 loss to Las Palmas at the Mendizorroza Stadium.
A victory would be enough to send the hosts two points clear of Real Madrid at the summit, and nine points clear of rivals Barcelona in this season’s title race.
Girona have the upper hand ahead of the clash with two wins and two draws in their last five matches against Alavès, suffering only one defeat in the period.
With a win, Michel’s side will record their 14th victory in 17 La Liga matches this season, in what will be an incredible feat ahead of the second round of matches next year.
The visitors have only two wins in their last six La Liga games yet will be confident of making a statement against an in-form Girona side who they beat in May 2019.
The big miss for the hosts will be Cristhian Stuani, who is suspended following his yellow card against Barcelona.
The visitors will also miss Abdel Abqar, as the Moroccan is ruled out of the clash due to suspension.
The match comes off at 20:00 GMT.
