Pochettino not ready to risk Christopher Nkunku

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino says Christopher Nkunku is not fit enough to play a full game after making his injury return.

The forward was named on the substitutes bench for the first time this season over the weekend in Chelsea’s win over Sheffield United.

However, he was unable to feature in the game with his manager now targeting the League Cup game against Newcastle United on Tuesday night.

“He can maybe play 20 minutes tomorrow. The priority is to feel 100 per cent,” the Argentine said when asked about the France international.

“My worry is to put too much pressure on him now that he’s arrived and to make us win every single game.

“It’s not going to be like this. He needs time.”

Nkunku has played no part in all of Chelsea’s 17 league games this campaign due to the injury he suffered during pre-season.
