Barcelona President Joan Laporta says the club is working on getting Vitor Roque as soon as possible as their struggles continue.
The forward is expected to join the La Liga side during the winter transfer window having said his goodbyes to his club.
The club is looking to have the youngster rival Robert Lewandowski leading the attack with the Poland international struggling this season.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Laporta revealed plans are already in place to integrate the Brazilian into the team immediately.
“We are planning with Vitor Roque’s arrival at the end of December or the beginning of January, we want Vitor here ASAP,” he said,
“Deco told me that he’s excellent talent so we expect him to help us a lot.”
The 18-year-old scored 12 goals in 25 appearances for Athletico in the Brasileirao Serie A while also setting up three assists.
