Barcelona manager, Xavi Hernandez has sounded a wake-up call to his players after their unconvincing 3-2 win over Almeria on Wednesday night in La Liga.

The hosts went ahead twice after an hour through goals from Raphinha and Sergi Roberto yet found themselves wanting defensively for many aspects of the game.

An 83rd-minute strike from Sergi Roberto off an incredible Robert Lewandowski pass was enough to clinch all three points for the Blaugrana, yet Barcelona barely managed to see out the match comfortably.

Speaking to the press about the team’s performance after the game, Xavi said: “I can’t accept our first half, it’s my fault and it won’t happen again. We were not aggressive, it’s unacceptable.”

The victory on Wednesday means Barcelona ended their three-game winless run at home and will hope to find some consistency come next year in 2024.

“We are not Barça 2010 here, run like animals or have no chance. Fight on every ball or we won’t win any title. We need to fight. I wanna see passion”, he added.

Barcelona return to action in La Liga on January 4th, away from home to Las Palmas at the Gran Canaria.
