Tchoumeni is amazing as a centre-back – Carlo Ancelotti

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has identified Aurelien Tchoumeni as a player who could fill in the void at centre-back.

Madrid are left with limited options at the back following injuries to Eder Militao and recently David Alaba, who are both suffering ACL injuries.

There were talks Los Blancos will be on the market for a replacement with Alaba’s season over.

However, Ancelotti has decided to count on the France international, who he believes is brilliant at playing in the heart of defence.

“Tchouaméni has all the qualities to be one of the best centre-backs,” the Italian trainer said.

“I’m sure he will get angry about this but… he’s amazing as centre-back.”

“He can play as a midfielder and as a defender, he’s great.”

Tchouameni returned from an injury layoff over the weekend making his first appearance in the 4-1 win over Villarreal.

He also got minutes in the narrow win over Alaves on Thursday night as Madrid assumed top spot in La Liga.
