Newcastle United will welcome Nottingham Forest to St James’ Park on Tuesday afternoon in the early fixture of several Boxing Day clashes.

Both teams were far from their best over the weekend with the Magpies suffering a 1-0 defeat to Luton Town at Kenilworth Road, while Nuno Espirito Santo’s first game in charge of Nottingham Forest ended in a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth.

The hosts sit in 7th place with 29 points after 18 matches meanwhile Nottingham Forest lie in 17th place with 14 points, only one slot above the drop zone moving into this clash.

Newcastle have the advantage ahead of this game with three wins in their last five matches against the Garibaldi, suffering two defeats in the period.

The visitors however are in desperate need of avoiding defeat as they are winless in their last six matches in the league. A feat that new manager Nuno Espírito Santo will be eyeing to turn around.

Newcastle could miss skipper Jamaal Lascelles after the defender sustained a thigh injury at Kenilworth Road.

Nottingham Forest will however be without Willy Boly due to suspension on Tuesday night.

The match comes off at 12:30 pm.
