The Goodison Park will welcome Club World Cup champions Machester City on Wednesday night in the Premier League as they face Everton.
The last time the champions played in the league was against Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium, where they gave up a two-goal lead to eventually draw stalemate and drop points in the title race.
Since then, Pep Guardiola’s men have edged past Urawa Reds and Fluminense to crown themselves champions of club football, and the Cityzens will be confident of bouncing back to winning ways in the league on Wednesday night.
Everton however approach this match in a desperate need of not dropping points as the Merseyside Blues sit in 17th place on the standings, only one slot away from the drop zone.
A 2-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday handed the hosts their first Premier League defeat in their last five matches.
City look favourites ahead of this match with four wins and a draw in their last five games against Sean Dyche’s men and will be hopeful of maintaining that feat come Wednesday night.
Nevertheless, with four wins in their last five league matches, Everton will look to present Pep Guardiola’s men with a surprise and will have their fans behind them to pursue a good result at Goodison Park.
The clash comes off at 20:15 GMT.
