Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has complained about the amount of games players have to play in a calendar year.
The Villans moved to second on the Premier League following their 3-2 win over Burnley at home with Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham all yet to play.
Emery’s side has six players out with an injury with just of the season done and the gaffer believes the lengthy games played in the season have been the rationale for the injuries.
“It’s difficult. It’s a lot of games for the players – too many. They are at risk of some injuries,” he said through Charlie Haffenden.
“I can give my opinion. It’s difficult for the players. Lots of teams have players injured and maybe more than normal…”
Villa and Liverpool are stuck on 42 points each though the former have played a game more.
They will however be on the road on January 6 when they play Middlesborough in the FA Cup.
