Valencia welcome Villarreal to Estadio de Mestalla in pursuit of victory in their first La Liga game in 2024.

The hosts beat Rayo Vallecano 1-0 away from home before the Christmas break while Villarreal were 3-2 winners in a five-goal thriller with Celta Vigo.

Both teams were far from their best in their last six matches, winning only two games and will look to turn their fortunes around this year.

The clash is expected to be full of end-to-end attacking displays as both sides have two wins in their last five matches against each other, drawing once in the period.

Marcelino’s men will still have Jose Gaya unavailable due to a muscular problem, and both Thierry Correia and Mouctar Diakhaby are serving suspensions for this clash.

Villarreal also have two players out of this match through suspension, with Alex Baena and Santi Comesana both being booked in the win over Celta Vigo.
