Eric Dier is a specialist at centre-back – Thomas Tuchel

Thomas Tuchel has praised soon-to-be Bayern Munich player Eric Dier describing the England international as a ‘centre-back specialist.’

Dier is expected to move permanently from Tottenham Hotspur to the Bundesliga side after falling out of favour at the London side.

The versatile player has fallen the pecking order under manager Ange Postecoglou.

His profile is however needed at Bayern who are close to completing his signing.

“He’s a specialist at centre-back,” Tuchel told the press.

“We’re getting him for the centre-back position, can play right or left centre-back as well as in back 3. He also used to play as #6 in the Premier League some years ago.

“Eric Dier is here in the city and we’re trying to finalize a move to have him as another option at centre-back.

“We’ll wait until everything is done”.

The England defender is already in Germany to have his medical ahead of the announcement of the deal.
