Ghana vs Cape Verde prediction, odds and preview

Ghana will begin their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign against Cape Verde on Sunday night at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium.

After recent disappointments on the continental scene, including a group stage exit in the last edition, the Black Stars will be vying for a fifth AFCON title.

Ghanaians were left disappointed after defeat to Comoros in the final group game of the 2021 AFCON saw Ghana exit the tournament in the group stage.

Chris Hughton will be hoping to re-write the wrongs from the team’s last major tournament but will be worried with his team’s recent run.

Three losses in five games, including a goalless draw with Namibia in preparation for this tournament, have put them pressure on the players ahead of the opener.

Cape Verde didn’t do any better in the pre-AFCON friendly either as they lost to Tunisia.

The Blue Sharks will be chasing a second win over the Black Stars in their sixth game after suffering four losses in that period.

The game is scheduled for an 8:00 pm kick-off.
