Nigeria vs Equatorial Guinea prediction, odds and preview

Nigeria kickstart their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) journey at the Alasanne Outarra Stadium on Sunday afternoon when they take on Equatorial Guinea.

The-three time winners will hope to clinch all three points in their first game, after group compatriots Ivory Coast secured a 2-0 win over Guinea Bissau on Saturday night.

The 1980 winners were eliminated in the last 16 of the previous tournament in Cameroon, and will hope to make a strong case for themselves this time round.

Jose Peseiro’s team were on the backend of a 2-0 defeat to Guinea prior to this tournament and seem to lack the balance needed to establish themselves control in matches.

However, with a formidable squad with notable names like Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles are favorites to get the job done on Sunday afternoon.

Equatorial Guinea on the other hand will also fancy their chances of getting past the group stages after finishing in the quarterfinals of the previous edition.

Juan Mocha’s side are unbeaten in their last six matches prior to this game, and will have nothing to fear in their group opener.
