Morocco will kickstart their Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON) campaign on Wednesday night when they face Tanzania at Stade de San Pedro in Ivory Coast.

The Atlas Lions are considered one of the favorites for this competition after becoming the first African country to reach the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

Walid Regragui’s men will hope they can clinch onto Africa’s biggest prize yet a huge task lies in front of them in navigating their way to winning the title.

The 1976 champions were eliminated in the last 16 of the previous tournament and edged past Sierra Leone in a 3-1 win in their pre-tournament friendly.

Tanzania however will be returning to the Africa Cup of Nations after failing to qualify for the previous edition.

The Taifa Stars suffered a 2-0 defeat to Egypt in a friendly prior to the tournament and have only one victory in their last five matches.

Morocco still have the likes of Hakim Ziyech and Yassine Bounou on their team, and this experience will certainly translate into results for them.

Meanwhile, for Tanzania, Mbwana Samatta is expected to be the focal point of the attack as the Swahili nation makes its third Africa Cup of Nations appearance.

The match starts at 17:00 GMT.
