Algeria will take on Burkina Faso in their second group game at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday afternoon at the Stade de la Paix.
Djamel Belmadi’s side played out a 1-1 draw with Angola in their group opener, while Burkina Faso dispatched Mauritania on Tuesday thanks to a stoppage-time penalty from Bertrand Traore.
The advantage lies in the balance ahead of this clash as both teams have failed to win any of their last two games against each other, drawing twice in the period.
The Stallions sit on top of Group D, and avoiding defeat could be enough to book them a place in the last 16 with a game to spare.
Meanwhile, after suffering elimination from the group stage in the previous edition, Algeria will need to rise to the occasion in this game with Baghdad Bounedjah, Riyad Mahrez, and Youcef Belaili all expected to be crucial for the Desert Foxes.
Burkina Faso however will rely on the services of Edmund Tapsoba in defense to resist the Algerian attack and Dango Ouattara could play a part in this clash should his fitness concerns be overcome.
The match starts at 14:00 GMT.
