Two Premier League giants go toe-to-toe for all three points at Anfield when Liverpool take on Chelsea on Wednesday night.

The Merseyside Reds are top of the league standings and will keep their place at the summit even if they suffer defeat against the Blues.

The reverse fixture saw both teams play out a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge in Mauricio Pochettino’s first home game as a Blue this season, and a lot has changed since that fixture.

Unbeaten in any of their last six matches across all competitions, Jurgen Klopp’s men look the better side ahead of this clash after dispatching Norwich last weekend in the FA Cup.

The Blues however are unbeaten in any of their last three games and played out a goalless draw with Aston Villa last week.

Nonetheless, Chelsea have failed to win in any of their last five matches against Liverpool, losing twice and drawing thrice in the period.

Alexis Mac Allister picked up a knock in the victory over Norwich but should pass the fitness test and be crucial in midfield for the hosts.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side however may be able to rely on the services of marksman Nicolas Jackson after Senegal’s elimination from the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast. The striker is in a race against time to make the squad for the game.

The result of the game will be crucial for both sides as Liverpool will love to extend their lead at the top, whilst Chelsea close in the gap on European places.

The match starts at 20:15 GMT.
