It will be a repetition of the Group A encounter when Nigeria play Cote d’Ivoire in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Sunday.
Both countries are hungry for continental success once again with Nigeria hoping for a fourth while Cote d’Ivoire target a third.
The Super Eagles made the final after beating South Africa on penalties following a dramatic 120 minutes of action.
The Elephants also made their quality count as they won their semifinal game against DR Congo courtesy of a lone goal from Sebastien Haller.
When the two teams met earlier in the competition, William Troost Ekong scored from the penalty spot to hand Nigeria all three points.
While Nigeria finished top of Group A, Cote d’Ivoire came in third and had to qualify to the knockout stages as one of the best-placed third teams.
However, all of that was before the Elephants parted ways with Jean-Louis Gasset before their last 16 tie against Senegal.
The appointment of Emerse Fae as his replacement has gone to plan for them so far and they will be looking to crown it with victory in the final.
Ivory Coast are yet to beat Nigeria in their last two meetings in the continent’s flagship competition but Fae will hope playing on home soil could be the trick to ending that.
Cote d’Ivoire winning will mean they become the first country to host and win the competition since Egypt in 2006.
The game is set to kick off at 20:00 GMT at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara.
