‘We keep making cheap mistakes’- Xavi on draw with Granada

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez says the Catalans cannot keep losing concentration and consistency towards their pursuit of silverware this season.

The Blaugrana were denied all three points at home by Granada, hence falling 10 points behind leaders Real Madrid in La Liga’s title race.

Also, Barcelona have conceded 35 goals in their last 17 matches, and Xavi believes defensive errors and game focus is a major problem that needs amendment at the club moving forward.

“I think Granada had a great game, but the errors we made were unacceptable,” he said.

“We keep making cheap mistakes. If we want to compete for La Liga and the Champions League, we cannot afford to continue making these cheap defensive blunders.”

Barcelona have been far from convincing this season compared to last year when they conceded fewer goals than matches played in La Liga, and things could get worse for the Blaugrana if they fail to find themselves sooner rather than later.

The Catalans will face Celta Vigo away from home in their next fixture before their highly anticipated UEFA Champions League last-16 tie against Napoli.
