Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag says Rasmus Hojlund’s ability to play under pressure is what makes him stand out.
The Denmark international scored twice for United in their Premier League win over Luton Town on Sunday.
Hojlund scored the first goal in the first minute of the game as he became the youngest player to score in six consecutive Premier League games.
He grabbed his seventh league goal of the campaign six minutes later to double his side’s lead before Luton halved the deficit.
The forward’s recent run of form has taken a complete turn since Boxing Day after struggling in his initial days.
Speaking after the game, Ten Hag spoke highly of his striker.
“One of the things we recruited [Hojlund] on was his character; I knew he was a very strong character.
“Although he’s [only] 21, he can really perform under stress, and that’s one of the big skills you need as a Man United striker. He doesn’t get nervous or lose confidence when he’s not scoring.
“Of course, it would have helped when he came in in his first game against Arsenal [and was fouled for] a 100% penalty that he didn’t get, or the game after against Brighton, he scored a goal that [was disallowed].”
Hojlund will look to add to his tally when United face Fulham in their next game.
