Erik ten Hag believes Manchester United are back in contention for a return to the UEFA Champions League after defeating Luton Town on Sunday.
The Red Devils claimed a 2-1 win at Kenilworth Road to continue their impressive run of form.
Rasmus Hojlund’s quick-fire double helped United win their fourth Premier League game in a row, and Ten Hag’s team remains unbeaten in the league since the turn of the year.
The result brings United to within three points of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who were stunned 2-1 at home by Wolves on Saturday, and five points from Aston Villa, who hold the final Champions League spot despite Scott McTominay’s late goal at Villa Park last week.
The Dutchman in the United sideline is beginning to believe that, following a difficult start to the season, the Old Trafford club is gaining momentum ahead of a top-four challenge.
“We are back in the race [for the top four],” Ten Hag told Sky Sports post-match.
“We are building momentum. Now we have to keep this going; we have to work on our game and build pressure on [those above us].
“We have to go from game to game. Every game is a final to get closer and make more distance to the teams who are behind us.”
United will face Fulham at Old Trafford in their next league game next weekend.
