Frenkie de Jong says exit rumours are ‘fake’

Frenkie de Jong has branded reports of a move away from Barcelona as being completely ‘fake.’

The midfielder has been heavily linked with an exit away from Camp Nou following the club’s financial situation.

According to reports in the Spanish media, Xavi Hernandez’s side will look to sell one of their biggest assets to raise enough money for the summer transfer window.

De Jong’s name has been mentioned in the conversation with Manchester United reportedly still around the Dutchman.

However, the midfielder has rubbished talks of an imminent exit from the club.

“There are lot of fake news in the press. Some of you should feel ashamed, this has to stop,” said De Jong.

“People invented numbers of my salary”. “I’m very happy at Barça, I hope to stay here for many years.”

De Jong has previously stated that he wishes to remain at Barcelona for an extended period of time, and this stance remains unchanged. However, it is also true that at least one major sale is required this summer, and if not him, it must be someone else.
