We are not favourites for Carabao Cup final – Klopp

Liverpool will face Chelsea in a rematch of the 2022 Carabao Cup final, which they won on penalties after 120 minutes of play ended in a goalless draw.

With their current exceptional form putting them four points ahead of Manchester City in the Premier League rankings, Liverpool are widely seen as the overwhelming favourites to defeat Chelsea once more.

The Blues have only won 10 games this season, a poor performance by their standards, and are now tenth on the table.

However, Klopp believes Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea might pose a threat to his injury-plagued team.

“Will we be big favourites? Definitely not. Since we played them (Chelsea) they have improved a lot and it will be tricky, this was exceptional tonight.”

“I don’t even know if these boys can play again. The situation is not great, absolutely not… There are a lot of super important games coming up and we go day by day.”

Liverpool and Chelsea have met eight times since 2021, with Liverpool winning every occasion.

They drew 1-1 on the first day of the season earlier this year, but Liverpool triumphed in the rematch 4-1 last month. Liverpool narrowly defeated Fulham in the semi-finals, while Chelsea breezed over Middlesborough despite losing the first leg.
