Xabi Alonso has expressed his focus and desire to succeed at Bayer Leverkusen despite being linked to a possible transfer to Bayern Munich and Liverpool in the summer.

Both Liverpool and Bayern will have their managers departing their clubs at the end of the season, and Alonso is being considered as one of the replacement options for these clubs.

However, the Spaniard believes his only interest is in seeing out the season successfully with Leverkusen, who sit eight points above Bayern in the Bundesliga title race.

“Bayern, Liverpool? I have nothing new to say. Right now I’m Bayer Leverkusen coach and that’s certain. Regarding the future, I have nothing new to say,” said the Spanish trainer.

“Call received from Bayern? That’s only hypothetical, again, I have nothing new to say.”

Leverkusen will host Mainz on Friday night at the Bay Arena, and Alonso is expected to lead his side 11 points clear at the top as they eye their first-ever Bundesliga title.
