France head coach Didier Deschamps has hinted Kylian Mbappe’s recent role at Paris Saint-Germain could be a positive thing for his side.
There has been speculation of a disagreement between Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique and Mbappe after the Spaniard benched the star forward three times in the last month.
France manager Deschamps has now spoken on Mbappe’s decreased position, supporting Luis Enrique’s decision due to the possible positives for his team.
Speaking to reporters, the French trainer said when quizzed on Mbappe: “It’s important to be physically fresh for a major competition.”
“In any case, all the players will arrive at the end of the season feeling a little tired. If that fatigue can be reduced a little [all the better].”
Les Bleus also want their best player to compete at the Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris this year.
However, Mbappe’s dream of winning an Olympic gold medal may be dashed if he does, as expected, move to Real Madrid in the summer, with Los Blancos unwilling to let the youngster depart at the start of the season.
“Real Madrid’s stance on the Olympic Games is a bit outdated. But business people are the ones who decide. If it’s not on an official FIFA date if they say no, the answer is no,” Deschamps added when asked about Madrid’s stance.
