Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is confident of playing at his best level despite suffering another injury setback in training, a few days prior to his return from a long-term ACL injury this season.
The 31-year-old’s 2023/2024 season with Madrid could be over after his meniscus injury, and his contention in the 2024 Euros in the summer is now up in the air as well.
However, Courtois insists that this injury is nothing but a minor setback, and his gaze remains on making a return to the football pitch to compete once again with vigour and immense passion.
“I’m sad for this new injury but it’s just a small setback. I will be back stronger than ever. I feel your support”, he said to the press after the injury.
Following Real Madrid’s statement released on Tuesday about Courtois tearing the internal meniscus in his right knee, the onus lies with Andriy Lunin to lead the Meringes in goal after his consistent performances between the sticks this season.
The Belgium national team on the other hand will be hopeful that the goalkeeper recovers in time to feature at the European Championships in Germany later this year.
