Matthijs De Ligt says he is confident that Jamal Musiala and himself will stay at Bayern Munich come the end of the season, despite rumors linking both players to a move away from Germany.
De Ligt joined Bayern in the summer of 2022 but has failed to find consistency as a key asset in the Bavarian backline.
Reports from Germany and Italy suggested the 24-year-old would make a move from Bayern in the January transfer window this season but none of that has happened, and the defender remains keen on succeeding at the club alongside teenage sensation, Musiala.
“Me and Musiala to leave Bayern? Where to go, on holiday? But no, I don’t think so. I hope for us and for Bayern that we’ll both stay. That’s what I’m assuming too,” he said as quoted by Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter).
Musiala has proven himself as one of the best young footballers in the game, and so did Matthijs De Ligt in his younger days at Ajax.
However, the Dutch defender has not lived up to expectations in the past few seasons and will need to up his game ahead of the end of the season if he wants to keep his place at the Bavarian club although interest remains in him from other European leagues.
