Carlo Ancelotti says it is normal for Real Madrid to rely on world-class Vinicius

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti says it is normal for the team to depend on star man Vinicius Jr considering his status as one of the best in the World.

The Brazil international continues to dazzle in the white shirt for Madrid this season contributing directly to 27 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions.

The 22-year-old has been key to everything Los Blancos have done this season with some complaining about the team’s reliance on him.

However, Ancelotti believes it is only good that the team counts on the winger as he is world-class at the moment.

“Vini Jr. is one of the best in the world and he often decides games for us,” Ancelotti said ahead of Thursday’s Copa del Rey semifinal first leg against Barcelona. “It’s normal to rely on him because at the moment he is one of the greatest players in the game.”

This will be the first of three meetings between Madrid and Barcelona in the next 35 days and Ancelotti is looking to avoid a repeat of what happened in the Spanish Super Cup when his side fell to a 1-3 defeat.

“We lacked commitment and decisiveness in the Spanish Super Cup,” Ancelotti said. “We made individual errors and if we make this kind of mistake again it will hurt us. I don’t think they’ll happen again because it’s a very important game and we’re near to winning what is an important competition for us. We’re going to compete.

“You have to have personality and courage to face a match like this. As always, there is enthusiasm to play this match, it’s always beautiful. We’re not far from playing a final. There are many things that allow us to enjoy this moment and try to do our best.”

Madrid and Barcelona are also competing for this season’s La Liga title with seven points separating both teams after 24 games.
